When Veronica Moreno, founder and president of OLÉ Mexican Foods Inc., emigrated to the United States from Mexico in 1977 at age of 21, she quickly realised the ‘tortillas’ available in her new country did not stand up to the flavoursome corn and flour ones of her youth.
With no formal training but a deep-rooted passion for her heritage, Veronica began making her own tortillas, drawing from family recipes passed down through generations. In 1988, alongside her husband Eduardo, she started selling these corn and flour tortillas to friends and locals in Atlanta, Georgia.
Today this business, OLÉ Mexican Foods Inc. has grown to be the largest family-owned tortilla maker in the USA – a fantastic success story created from humble beginnings with lots of hard work and commitment from our family and staff throughout the journey.
Our flagship brand, La Banderita, keeps authentic Mexican cuisine at its heart. Made with love, La Banderita tortillas have become a staple at tables across the USA. La Banderita has grown to become one of America’s favourite tortillas, being sold coast to coast across the USA in the best retailers and restaurants.
